What a Great Little Spot .. Tried it for the 1st Time .. Very Friendly Floor staff sat us at our Table Had Seafood Chowder to start which was lovely .. For Mains I had Beef Bourgion with Champ .. Really tasty and Beef melted in Your mouth .. Desert was the Top Prize of Choclate Torte with Lemon Sorbet One of the nicest Deserts I've ever had Easy to say I will be back again and it's Top Marks From me for Underground Dining ..

We ate in Underground Dining last night. We got a lovely warm greeting when we arrived. The menu was explained and drinks order taken.
I have to say it was the best Beef Wellington I have ever had. All of the food was top class and very reasonable. I spoke to the chef, Gary in his open kitchen and passed on our delight with our meal. A dining experience not to be missed if you're in the Bangor area.

Fabulous food, really well cooked and served. Excellent staff knowledge and friendly service. Very highly recommended on all fronts

We had the most amazing meal today at Underground. I am coeliac & normally choice is limited & quite often lack of knowledge and understanding in a restaurant is apparent. Definitely not the case in Underground. I would trust the chef & staff 100%, all of whom were lovely.
We both look forward to returning for another excellent meal.

Once again a fabulous meal and experience at Underground. We had Arancini and an exceptional Lobster Bisque to start followed by Lamb Shoulder and Fillet Steak main. Both cooked as requested to perfection.
There was the usual buzz and they have a happy bunch of enthusiastic and capable young people keen to be part of a successful team. Service was first class.

Great restaurant. Fabulous food and all served piping hot. Lobster bisque was delicious. Restaurant had a great vibe and staff were very attentive and efficient. Great to see a local restaurant doing so well. Thank you for making our night so special.

Oh wow. What a surprise. Walking into the restaurant, slightly empty, I looked at my beautiful dining companion with trepidation. where had she brought us too? Staff were very friendly but in honest my first thought was mutton dressed as lamb, in a very foodie way.
I opened the menu, the font looked from the early noughties. Beef Wellington and a braised lamb shank umm granny’s house. Braving the menu we picked four tasters and mains. Stick to what I know. Sirloin steak for me and the daube beef burgonion for the wife.
The starters arrived, we had the cranberry and Brie, squid , arrancini and cous cous. OMGoodness!!! Talk about lick the plate clean with the great bottle of wine we ordered, would have paid the whole bill and gone home happy!
Then the mains arrived (after asking the kitchen to hold back as needed a rest!) See photo attached of the steak. It was one of the quietest dinners as we just enjoyed the flavours. Did we order too much? maybe. Anything go to waste? Nope.
Dessert was a miss as there was not a bit of space (except for the calypso coffee). genuine 10/10.

Absolutely delicious food in a relaxed environment. Everything was excellent including staff and service.
Very comprehensive menu including small plates which allowed us to taste a number of dishes.
Everything thing that we ordered was fresh and delicious. We did not leave anything. The Goats Cheese Bon Bon starter was fabulous and the Chowder, the Mornay and Cod were first class!

Fabulous choice of menu. Taster plates are perfect for sharing. Everything we had was executed to perfection. The staff were young but friendly and ever so helpful. Would definitely recommend and will go again.

Excellent service, made to feel so welcome as soon as we arrived. We all ordered different dishes for lunch and they were all superb. Will definitely be coming back for dinner some evening soon!

I feel like I have to write a review as our visit to Underground Dining was exceptional !
Staff, atmosphere, menu and quality of food all added up to create a great experience.
Steak was cooked exactly as requested and the rest of the food was absolutely delicious.
This place is a class act 10/10.

What an exceptional experience. I booked at short notice for my wife and I (anniversary). We sat in the covered area outside on a beautiful evening. My wife had the seafood mornay, and I had three taster dishes instead of a main. I got pork belly, fried fish skin and chips, and a burger slider. Just the right size combined. Glass of wine for her, soft drinks -for me - in and out for less than £50. Superb value for money. Amazing food. Great service. If you put a gun to my head and forced me to find a drawback, I’d struggle. Maybe a little bit of over service, but we can all live with that. Great job. Well done friends. I’ll definitely be back. 10 out of 5!!

We have a four person meal on Saturday the 4th July. The front of house staff that greeted us was excellent from the start and this welcoming professional approach continued throughout the evening . The young men was an excellent waiter who come across as interested and very knowledgeable about the food and the ethos of the restaurant and then the food arrived which was excellent with all four of us agreeing it was one of the best meals we have had . Surf and turf 10/10 pork belly 10/10 lamb shoulder 10/10 prawn tagliatelle 10/10 and the desserts did not disappoint chocolate fudge brownie and ice cream 10/10 chocolate tart and sorbet vegan opinion 10/10. This felt like fine dinning without the high price tag at roughly £40.00 per person including drinks. A wonderful experience.

We’d been talking about visiting here for ages. Finally made the time last weekend.
The day before, Louise gave us a call to confirm the booking, enquire about allergies, ask if we wanted the Beef Wellington (requires longer prep) and to advise us that they were operating as cash only system due to a fault. This call was a nice touch; her demeanour was very friendly.
We were able to get parked more or less right at the front door. There was seating outside, however we sat inside.
First impressions: clean, modern, trendy and intimate. It’s also exceptionally busy; every table was seated to capacity.
The menu is mostly French/European style cooking. It’s balanced and caters to all tastes. It does have a small plates option; a bit like Tapas.
I had the cod whilst my partner had good old Beef Burgundy (Bœuf Bourguignon). Tremendously delicious were both! We shared a side of chips. Vodka/tonic and water as the drinks.
Price wise, Underground Dining was exceptionally good value. We will certainly be back.
If you’re looking for truly great French/European style food in Bangor, look no further. The other reviews have it completely right - this place is really excellent.

Fantastic restaurant, we had a party of 10 and I left it too late to book inside, but they offered us outside under a covered area with heater. It was great, very cosy. They staff were so friendly and the food was fantastic. Cooked to perfection. Even more satisfying was the amount of vegetarian options! Will definitely be back!

Absolutely fantastic experience at Underground Dining in Bangor. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, stylish, and welcoming. The food was outstanding — get the beef wellington!
You can really tell there’s passion and attention to detail in everything they serve.
The staff were so friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely looked after throughout the evening. Service was quick without ever feeling rushed, and the whole experience felt relaxed and enjoyable.

First time at this restaurant and it is one of the best meals we have had for a while. We both had steak, I had the fillet and my partner had the sirloin. Very tasty and cooked to perfection, will be back to try out more of the menu. Staff friendly and it was very comfortable and relaxing. Great experience all round will be back soon.

Another outstanding meal in Underground. - never ever had a bad one. You are spoilt for choice as there are so many wonderful dishes to select from. The only answer is to keep coming back! Visited this restaurant yesterday for the first time and we will absolutely be back.
The food was quite simply phenomenal with no complaints on any of the courses served. (Crispy squid superbly cooked so the texture was perfect whilst the seafood mornay for mains was perfectly cooked and seasoned). The drink choice was not only plentiful but reasonably priced.
However, every venue is only as good as its serving staff and here Underground Dining is truly blessed. On this particular Friday, the staff were very busy and rarely getting a moment; yet at all times there were pleasant, friendly and genuinely helpful. It feels churlish to single anyone out, but our serving staff for the evening Matty and Louise were credits to the restaurant and themselves.
We will be back and strongly recommend to others.

Outstanding, booked a table last minute for Saturday afternoon! The service from the waiting staff was fantastic really friendly knowledgable and welcoming! The tasters for the starters menu were a great size and plenty of variety the specials for the tasters added extra variety! Wee quirks like the small spray bottle for vinegar with the fish skins added a quirk! Portions are a good size for main course and the chicken special was full of flavours and well presented! Will definitely be back

Best restaurant Bangor

We had a really great meal on Saturday night in Underground, but in fairness we've never had anything other than fabulous food over many years of custom. Superb small plates, starters and mains ( oh yes and desserts!). The cheese board is outstanding and the new presentation absolutely five star. The only problem is what to select - spoiled for choice! Lovely friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere. Gary is a wizard in the kitchen. Give it a go. I'll be amazed if you don't agree with us. Well done Gary, Louise and team.

Over from Oxford to give my sisters a treat for looking after my elderly mother, this was just the treat. Excellent attentive staff, with a thorough knowledge of the menu, effusing passion for the food which was superb. From the tasting menu to the signature beef Wellington, all the dishes had an artistry which would years of experience to relpicate, what a lucky find, I will definately be back

Unbelievable Underground
My friend and I booked for NYD dinner and e arrived at 6.25pm. Our table was ready and the waiter was over straight away with menus and specials. We had time to look over the menu, our drinks order was taken and the our food.
The food was absolutely exquisite. I had the seafood mornay and my friend had the venison lasagne. Not a crumb was left. It was just amazing. We paired the food accordingly with wine and it was a perfect pairing upon recommendation.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I’ve been many times and never once have I been disappointed or even had to critique. It has it all. Service, food, friendliness and lovely atmosphere.

Lovely experience, great service, Beautiful food as always. Great value for money. Never disappoints. Looking forward until the next time. 😉

Totally recommend Underground Dining. It’s in a part of the town where there’s plenty of parking on street or in a car park. Staff are always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. As I require gluten free I so much appreciate that it’s absolutely no problem to cater for different food needs or preferences. The restaurant is comfortable with a great atmosphere. The menu is varied with plenty of choices for all tastes and the food is always delicious! We love the small plates or tapas. All in all the best dining experience!

My sister and brother in law wanted to take me for birthday lunch and I suggested here as I’d been before and always enjoyed my meal. My sister is coeliac and is always limited in choice when she eats out. To our delight she was told that majority of the menu could be adapted to be gluten free and not just by removing the bread or the sauce but by replacing them with GF. She had so much choice. She and I had small plates while our husbands managed starters and mains. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. Although I didn’t pay, my BIL told us that it was so much better value than a lunch that’d they had a few weeks previously and that the food was today was much better. I know they are planning a return visit for an evening meal. It’s always risky recommending somewhere if you haven’t been for a while but Underground Dining didn’t disappoint.

What a great experience in every way. Super interesting and varied menu, with many dishes that my wife and I would like to try. We both had French Onion Soup to start, because we both love it and rarely see it on a menu. It was delicious. I had the Baked Seafood Mornay, which was also delicious and Nicola had the Pulled Oats & Mushroom Stroganoff. Nic isn’t vegetarian, but often finds the vegetarian or vegan options more interesting. I mentioned this to the waiter and unexpected to us, he came back to ask if Nicola would like her main with or without cream. She was happy with whatever way the chef recommended. The waiter returned a second time, because the chef now wanted to know if she would like beef added to her stroganoff! I’ve never known any chef to be so dedicated to customer satisfaction. The staff were all extremely knowledgable, helpful and mature, which is quite rare today.
I’ve just visited their website again, it’s morning. The menus are current and the food pictured, is EXACTLY how it is served.
My only regret is not having been here sooner. Approximately 12 years ago we first experienced Gary’s cooking expertise, at Newtownards Sailing Club, for Christmas dinner. Now I know that the kitchen facilities in that clubhouse are very basic. However, Nicola and I then rated it as the best Christmas dinner we had ever had. And 12 years on, our opinion has not changed.
We will be back soon. Very soon.

Yet another fabulous night of high quality food cooked by Gary and his small team at this wonderful restaurant. We had the arancini, squid and blue cheese panacotta tasters and each of the three dishes was superb. Then the big hitter - the Beef Wellington. Have seen this on tele many times and always fancied it but very few places serve it. UD serve it as individually made. Sooo good. There are currently many venison dishes on the menu which I will be back to try. If you have never been and enjoy good quality fairly priced food you will enjoy this restaurant. Also a great chatty atmosphere and friendly staff

Fantastic little family restaurant. Service was really good. Staff were all very relaxed and friendly and the food was amazing. Everything came from the kitchen piping hot and very tasty.

We absolutely loved our recent dining experience here The overall menu variation is fantastic, making it easy to find something for everyone, and the pricing offers exceptional value for the caliber of food. The real highlight, however, was the local venison Wellington. It was rich, incredibly tender, and perfectly prepared—easily the best Wellington I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this spot!

We booked this restaurant having spoken to a friend from Bangor, and it turned out to be a great decision. A couple of tasters to start, followed by excellent slow cooked lamb and crispy pork belly, a generous glass of Merlot and a really good shared apple crumble came in under £70. Given the quality of the food and service we considered this outstanding value, and will definitely visit again when we’re back in Bangor. We don’t come across this combination of outstanding quality and value often enough.

I had a superb lunch at Underground recently with a friend. Serena our server was absolutely fantastic, she was friendly and attentive. Louise, the front of house manager, was also warm and friendly and spent time chatting to other customers in the restaurant, making it feel very relaxed and informal. It was obvious that these customers were regular visitors to the restaurant which is always a good sign!
The food was outstanding, all 3 courses were tasty and looked just like the Instagram posts. I was so impressed that I have already booked a table for dinner with some friends next month.
I highly recommend Underground to anyone looking for friendly and efficient service and great food!

My son and I had a delicious meal at Underground Dining. All the food was amazing: Thai broth, surf and turf and the slow cooked lamb shoulder. The place was spotlessly clean and the safe were delightful. Will definitely be back.

My mum and I popped in here without a booking and they were very kind to accommodate us. The food was top class and the servers were extremely kind and accommodating. We have plans to revisit this place soon

This is one of the best meals I've had in Ireland. We went around opening for dinner as a group of 4. The decor is beautiful and it has a nice, relaxing atmosphere. The food was delicious (excellent chowder and beef wellington). The service was also top-notch. I would highly recommend!

Such a great spot. Excellent food and service and relaxed ambience. From steaks to chicken and lobster special, with gnocchi was simply devine. We all really enjoyed our meal.

Buzzing restaurant with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The menu is extensive with a great choice of specials, we really struggled to choose. Stand outs were the lobster special and the beef wellington, but everything we had was exceptional including desserts. Friendly service from Suzie and the young and enthusiastic waiting team, sorry didn't get everyone's names. They don't accept card tips, but we enjoyed it so much my husband went back with a cash tip. Highly recommend a trip to Bangor just to eat here!
